Instructions
Dress Body: Using US 00 (1.5 mm) hook and Cléa #3794 (Burgundy) yarn. Start at the waist, working back and front together, in back-and-forth rows. Begin on the left back side, then move to front, finishing on right back.
Work a foundation chain of 278 ch. Work over foundation chain in Pattern Stitch A (Chart 1), 92 motifs + 2 sts. Keep following Chart 1 and the repeat stitches from R1 to R8. Continue in Pattern Stitch B (Chart 2) and the repeat stitches from R1 to R15.
Fold the piece to define front, right back, and left back, leaving 8 motifs free on R15.Work 3 tr2tog in same base st to shape armholes. Continue front and back separately, working in back-and-forth rows.
Front Continuation: Keep following Chart 3 and the repeat stitches from R1 to R23.
Right Back Continuation: Keep following Chart 4 and the repeat stitches from R1 to R23.
Left Back Continuation: Keep following Chart 5 and the repeat stitches from R1 to R23.
Skirt: Using US 00 (1.5 mm) hook and Cléa #3794 (Burgundy) yarn. Start at left back, across front, finishing on right back. Attach the yarn to waist foundation chain and work in rounds, following Pattern Stitch F (Chart 6) and the repeat stitches from R2 to R14, making 25 motifs.
In the next round, continue in Pattern Stitch G (Chart 7) and the repeat stitches from R1 to R5, making 135 motifs. Repeat Pattern Stitch F (Chart 6) and the repeat stitches from R2 to R14, making 25 motifs.
Switch to US B-1 (2.5 mm) hook, continue in Pattern Stitch G (Chart 7) and the repeat stitches from R1 to R9, making 130 motifs. Switch back to US 00 (1.5 mm) hook, and work Pattern Stitch F (Chart 6) and the repeat stitches from R2 to R14, making 29 motifs.
Switch to US B-1 (2.5 mm) hook, continue in Pattern Stitch G (Chart 7) and the repeat stitches from R1 to R5, making 155 motifs. Return to US 00 (1.5 mm) hook, and work Pattern Stitch F (Chart 6) and the repeat stitches from R2 to R14, making 29 motifs. Switch back to US B-1 (2.5 mm) hook, and work Pattern Stitch G (Chart 7) and the repeat stitches from R1 to R3, making 156 motifs.
Fasten off and set piece aside.
Sleeves: Using US 00 (1.5 mm) hook and Cléa #3794 (Burgundy) yarn. Begin at the lower edge and work in rounds.
Ch 96, join with 1 sl st to form a ring. Over this ring, work Pattern Stitch H (Chart 8) and the repeat stitches from R1 to R18.
In the next round, continue working in back-and-forth rows, leaving 8 motifs free from R18. Work tr3tog in the same base stitch to shape the lower armhole.
Continue in Pattern Stitch I (Chart 9) and the repeat stitches from R19 to R35.
Fasten off. Make the second sleeve the same and set them aside.
Assembly and Finishing: Using Cléa #3794 (Burgundy) yarn and a tapestry needle, join the shoulders (4.3” / 11 cm). Sew the sleeves around the armholes.
Edging: Using US 00 (1.5 mm) hook and Cléa #3794 (Burgundy) yarn, work the edging around the neckline (44 motifs), following Chart 10 and the repeat stitches. Along the back neckline on the left side, work the buttonhole following Chart 11.
Button Facing: Using Cléa #3794 (Burgundy) yarn and US 00 (1.5 mm) hook, begin the motif with a magic ring.
R1: Ch 3, 11 dc, 1 sl st to close the round.
R2 and R3: Continue following Chart 12.
Work in rounds, closing each round with 1 sl st. Fasten off, leaving an approximately 6” (15 cm) tail. Thread the tail onto a tapestry needle and run a gathering stitch around R3. Insert the button and pull to gather, securing with a knot. Attach the button to the upper back on the right side.
Lining and Zipper: Shape the lining to fit the upper body like a tank top, as a separate piece. Use sewing needle size 2 and Maxxi Retrós #430 (Niagara) thread. Baste the zipper into the back opening.
