Stitch glossary and abbreviations
One Size
Neck Warmer
Ch 23 (or the number of chains needed to reach 22 cm / 8.5 in).
Turn and work sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each chain across.
Ch 1, turn, and work sc blo across.
Repeat this pattern: ch 1, turn, sc blo, until the piece measures 52 cm / 20.5 in in length.
Join both short ends together with sl st to form the neck warmer tube.
Turn the seam to the inside.
Beginning of the Hood
With the neck seam positioned at the back, insert your hook into one of the top edges.
Work 1 row of sc, making 1 sc in each row of the neck warmer.
Increases to Shape the Hood
At the end of the row:
Ch 1, turn. Work:
2 sc in the first stitch (increase)
sc across
2 sc in the last stitch (increase)
Ch 1, turn and repeat the increase row:
2 sc in the first st
sc across
2 sc in the last st
Repeat these increase rows until the hood measures 14 cm / 5.5 in in height.
Final Height of the Hood
After reaching 14 cm: Continue working rows of sc back and forth, without increases, until the hood measures 30 cm / 12 in in total height.
Closing the Top
Fold the hood in half.
Join both sides together with sl st.
Turn the seam to the inside for a clean finish.
