Note: The width of the bag should be approximately three times its height.

Instructions Using Devoção, make a foundation chain in a multiple of 4 + 2. The reference sample was made with 118 ch (116 + 2 ch).

Row 1: Insert the hook into the 2nd ch from the hook and work 1 sc in each ch across.

Row 2: Turn, ch 1 and work 1 sc in each of the first 2 stitches, working through both loops. Ch 1, skip 1 stitch, work 3 sc (1 sc in each of the next 3 stitches), ch 1, skip 1 stitch and work 3 sc. Repeat from * to * until 2 stitches remain. Work 1 sc in each of the last 2 stitches

Row 3: Turn, ch 1 and work 1 sc in each stitch across. In each ch-1 space, work 1 sc around the space.

Row 4: Change to Off White. Ch 1 and work 2 sc. Work 1 elongated sc into the space of the row below, 1 sc, ch 1, skip 1 stitch and work 1 sc, 1 elongated sc into the space of the row below, 1 sc. Repeat from * to * across.

Row 5: Turn, ch 1 and work 1 sc in each stitch across, including the ch-1 spaces.

Row 6: Change to Devoção. Ch 1 and work 2 sc. Ch 1, skip 1 stitch and work 1 sc, 1 elongated sc into the space of the row below, 1 sc. Repeat from * to * across.

Row 7: Turn, ch 1 and work 1 sc in each stitch across, including the ch-1 spaces.

Row 8: Change to Off White. Ch 1 and work 2 sc. Work 1 elongated sc into the space of the row below, 1 sc, ch 1, skip 1 stitch and work 1 sc, 1 elongated sc into the space of the row below, 1 sc. Repeat from * to * across.

Row 9: Turn, ch 1 and work 1 sc in each stitch across, including the ch-1 spaces.

Repeat Rows 6–9 until the piece measures approximately 26 cm in height.

Work 2 rows with color 3480 – Devoção and 2 rows with color 8176 – Off White, alternating the colors throughout the project. Finish the final repeat with 8176 – Off White.

Fold the piece following the origami bag construction. To assemble the bag correctly, refer to the assembly diagram included in this pattern or watch the video available on Instagram @fioscruzados.

Using a tapestry needle and matching yarn, join the front and back of the bag by sewing along the folds created during the origami assembly.

Finally, attach the handle to the indicated points and weave in all yarn ends.
