Stitch Glossary & Abbreviations
- Chain (ch)
- Single crochet (sc)
- Slip stitch (sl st)
- Double crochet (dc)
- Treble crochet (tr)
- Yarn over (yo)
- Wrong Side (WS)
Instructions:
- XS, S & M: 35 loops
- L: 40 loops
- XL & XXL: 45 loops
Loop Base:
- Ch 3, yo, 1 dc in the first ch to form the first loop.
- Ch 3, 1 dc in the center of the previous loop.
- Repeat until you have the number of loops for your size.
- Make sure the loops are aligned and join with sc in the center of the first loop.
Row 1:
- Ch 3, 2 dc in the first loop,
- In each next loop, make 3 dc.
- At the end, join with sl st in top of beginning ch-3.
Row 2:
- Ch 6, skip next 2 sts, sc in next st;
- Repeat to end of row.
- In last space, ch 3, tr in starting ch-6 to join.
Row 3 to R8 (shells):
- Ch 3, 1 dc, ch 2, 2 dc inside the same loop (forming a shell).
- In each next loop, make 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc.
- Join with sl st in top of beginning ch-3.
- From R4 to R8, increase the spacing between the shells:
- R4: 1 ch between shells
- R5: 2 ch between shells
- R6 to R8: 3 ch between shells
- If you want a longer cape, add more rows following the same pattern.
Neckline Finishing
Row 1: Work one row of dc as follows:
- 3 dc in 1st loop
- 3 dc in 2nd loop
- 2 dc in 3rd loop
- 3 dc in 4th loop
- 3 dc in 5th loop
- 2 dc in 6th loop
Repeat this sequence to end of round.
Row 2: Work 1 row of sc.
Fringes
- Cut 350 strands, each 31.5" (80 cm) long.
- Attach 5 strands folded in half to each of the 70 spaces along the edge.
- Apply a small drop of craft glue on WS to secure fringe.
- Trim evenly.
