Apolo Macramé – 2 skeins in color 3396 (Guava)
Size: 15" x 10.6" (38 X 27 cm)
Stitch used: double knot or macramé knot; blanket stitch.
Instructions – Placemat: Cut 25 cords, 7 m (23 ft) each – for each piece – fold each cord in half and hang on a support.
1st row – 1st motif: Use the 1st cord as a guide, tilt to the right, and work blanket stitch with the next 2 cords over the guide; to make the 2nd line, use the tip of the 1st blanket stitch as a guide, tilt to the right, and work blanket stitch with the next cord.
2nd motif: Skip 2 cords, tilt the 3rd cord to the right and use it as a guide. Work blanket stitch with the next 3 cords; to make the 2nd line, use the 2nd skipped cord as a guide, tilt to the right, and work blanket stitch with the next 3 cords.
Repeat the 2nd motif until the end of the row.
2nd row – 1st motif: Use the 1st cord of the 2nd motif as a guide, tilt to the left, and work blanket stitch with all the cords before the guide (4 cords); use the 2nd cord of the 2nd motif as a guide for the next line, tilt to the left, and work 4 blanket stitches – leave the previous guide on hold.
2nd motif: Same as the 1st, using the 1st cord of the 3rd motif as a guide.
Continue this way until the end of the row.
Follow the chart to complete the piece.
Napkin ring: Cut 3 cords, 1.5 m (4.9 ft) each – for each napkin ring – gather the 3 cords and mark their center.
Begin making double knots 3.1" (8 cm) before the center and work the same knot for 6.3" (16 cm). Gather the 2 ends, work 2 more double knots around all the cords, and continue as shown in the chart.
Trim the ends to 2" (5 cm).
