Stitches used: Chain (ch). Slip stitch (sl st.): Insert hook, yarn over, pull through stitch and loop on hook. Single crochet (sc.): Insert hook, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over again and pull through both loops on hook. Half double crochet (hdc.): Yarn over, insert hook, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through all loops on hook. Fantasy stitch: Follow the chart.

Gauge: A 10 cm (4 in) square in fantasy stitch using a 4.5 mm hook = 16 sts. x 20 rows.

Instructions: Purse – Start from the base. With Nautico Poly Slim yarn in Truffle color, make a foundation chain of 41 ch. + 2 ch. to turn, and work in hdc. When the piece measures 5 cm (2 in) from the beginning, start working in the round. Close each round with 1 sl st. and begin the next with 1 ch. Work one round of 89 sc. all around and close with a sl st. Work another round with the same amount of sc., inserting the hook only in the back loop of each stitch from the previous round. After completing these two sc. rounds, continue in fantasy stitch following the chart. When the piece measures 14 cm (5.5 in) in fantasy stitch, fasten off. Flap – Center the flap on one side of the bag, using the sides of the base as a guide. With Nautico Poly Slim yarn in Truffle color, work 1 row of 27 sc. Then, continue in fantasy stitch following the chart. When the flap measures 11 cm (4.3 in) from the beginning, fasten off. Attach the Nautico Poly Slim yarn in Truffle color to the right edge at the base of the flap, and work 1 row of sc. along both sides and the bottom edge of the flap. Fasten off. Strap – With Nautico Poly Slim yarn in Truffle color, attach the yarn to the flat side of a swivel clasp, make 5 sc. directly onto the clasp, then continue in fantasy stitch following the chart. When the strap measures 110 cm (43.3 in) from the beginning of the fantasy stitch, attach it to the flat side of the other swivel clasp with 1 row of sc. Fasten off.

Finishing – Attach one part of the clasp to the center front of the purse (opposite side of the flap), 8 cm (3.1 in) from the opening. Attach the other part of the clasp to the center of the last row of the flap (see photo). Line the purse. Use the swivel clasps to attach the crochet strap to each side of the opening, and attach the acrylic handle to the flap (see photo).
