Gauge:
A 4-inch (10 cm) square in fantasy stitch (diag. 2) with the 6.0 mm circular needle = 17 sts. x 24 rows.
Execution:
Transfer the patterns to tracing paper to use as a reference for executing the piece. Observe the arrows on the measurement chart indicating the direction of work. Knit the entire piece in back-and-forth rows.
Back: Use the Hobby yarn #3537 (Petal) and cast-on 65 sts. with the 6.0 mm circular needle. Start the piece from the bottom in 1/1 ribbing st. following diag. 1 and the repeat sts. for 2” (5 cm). On the next row, continue with the fantasy st. following diag. 2 and the repeat stitches. When the piece measures 21.6” (55 cm) in length from the beginning, bind-off all sts. and set the piece aside. Front: Use the Hobby yarn #3537 (Petal) and cast-on 65 sts. with the 6.0 mm circular needle. Start the piece from the bottom in 1/1 ribbing st. following diag. 1 and the repeat sts. for 2” (5 cm). On the next row, continue with the fantasy st. following diag. 2 and the repeat stitches. When the piece measures 16.1” (41 cm) in length, start shaping the neckline by binding off the 5 center sts. and knit over the 30 sts. on each side separately, straight for an additional 3.1” (8 cm). Begin decreasing at the neckline edge every 2 rows by binding off 2 sts. (3x) and 1 st. (4x). When the piece measures 21.6” (55 cm) in length, bind-off the 20 sts. for each shoulder. Neckline finishing (straight parts): On each straight side of the neckline, pick up 14 sts. with the 6.0 mm circular needle and knit in 1/1 ribbing st. following diag. 1 and the repeat sts. for 4 rows. Switch to the tapestry needle and sew the lower part, joining the two finishing parts over 1.2” (3 cm). Pocket: Use the Hobby yarn #3537 (Petal) and cast-on 65 sts. with the 6.0 mm circular needle. Join the yarn 2.8” (7 cm) from the right side edge, in the 2nd row of the fantasy st. on the front piece. Pick up 41 sts. and knit in garter stitch following diag. 3 and the repeat stitches. When the piece measures 3.1” (8 cm) in length, start decreases by leaving a 1.6-inch (4 cm) border on each side. Make the decreases before and after the border every 2 rows by binding off 1 st. (10x), totaling 21 sts. When the piece measures 7.1” (18 cm) in length, bind-off all sts. Switch to the tapestry needle and sew the upper part of the pocket (5.5” / 14 cm) and the sides (3.1” / 8 cm). Bind-off the yarn and set the piece aside. Sleeve: Use the Hobby yarn #3537 (Petal) and cast-on 36 sts. with the 6.0 mm circular needle. Start the piece from the cuff in 1/1 ribbing st. following diag. 1 and the repeat sts. for 2” (5 cm). On the next row, continue with the fantasy st. following diag. 2 and the repeat stitches. When the piece measures 3.1” (8 cm) in length, increase 1 st. on each side every 7 rows (15x), totaling 66 sts. When the piece measures 23.6” (60 cm) in length from the beginning, bind-off all sts. Knit the other sleeve the same way and set them aside. Assembly: Use the tapestry needle and the Hobby yarn #3537 (Petal) to close the shoulder seams (5.5“ / 14 cm), close the side seams (13.8” / 35 cm), leaving the armhole openings (7.9” / 20 cm). Close the sleeves (23.6” / 60 cm) and sew them around the armholes. Hood: Use the Hobby yarn #3537 (Petal). Pick up 90 sts. around the neckline with the 6.0 mm circular needle and knit in the fantasy st. following diag. 2 and the repeat stitches. When the piece measures 13.8” (35 cm) from the beginning, bind-off all sts., leaving a yarn tail of about 13.8“ (35 cm). Pass this yarn on the tapestry needle and close the top of the hood (10.2” / 26 cm). Cord: Use the Hobby yarn #3537 (Petal) and the 4.0 mm crochet hook. Join the yarn at the beginning of the hood on the sides. On each side, crochet a chain cord of 12.6” (32 cm). Over each chain, crochet 1 row of sl st.
