STITCHES USED:

Chain stitch (ch.). Single crochet (s.c.): Insert the hook, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over again, and pull through all loops on the hook. Double crochet (d.c.): Yarn over, insert the hook, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through two loops, yarn over again, and pull through the remaining loops. Pattern stitch: Follow the chart.

GAUGE: A 4-inch (10 cm) square in single crochet (sc) with a 9.0 mm hook = 10 stitches x 11 rows. A 4-inch (10 cm) square in single crochet (sc) with a 3.5 mm hook = 12 stitches x 10 rows.

EXECUTION

BAG:

Start with the flap. Using the Night Sea yarn (2802), make a chain of 24 stitches plus 3 chains to turn, and work in the pattern stitch following the chart. Change the chain colors according to the legend, keeping the yarn behind the work when switching colors. Once the pattern stitch chart is complete, continue in single crochet (sc) with the Night Sea yarn (2802).

For the first row, work in single crochet (sc), inserting the hook only into the back loop of the previous row. Work 6.3 inches (16 cm) in double crochet (dc) with the Night Sea yarn (2802), then 3.5 inches (9 cm) (bottom) with the Climb yarn (2966), and another 6.3 inches (16 cm) with the Night Sea yarn (2802). Fasten off.

SIDES:

Using the Climb yarn (2966), make a chain of 9 stitches plus 1 chain to turn, and work in single crochet (sc). At 6.3 inches (16 cm) from the beginning, fasten off.

Make 2 identical sides.

FINISHING:

Using the Climb yarn (2966), work a row of single crochet (sc) all around the edge of the bag. Attach the sides of the bag, one on each side, with a row of single crochet (sc). Match A to A, B to B, and C to C, as indicated in the template.

Attach a ring to each side of the bag’s sides (marked in red on the template), sewing through both thicknesses together. Attach the handle to the rings using the clasp. Secure the magnetic buttons: place one part on the flap, 0.4 inches (1 cm) from the edges, and the other part on the bag, 0.4 inches (1 cm) from the side and 3.1 inches (8 cm) from the bottom. Attach one button on each side. Line the bag.
