Stitches Used:
- Front post double treble crochet (fptc) with two yarn overs
Size: S (To adjust the size, increase the number of starting chains. The total must always be a multiple of 4 + 3.)
Instructions
Start: Chain 32 + 3 (these 3 chains count as the first dc).
Row 1:
- Starting in the 4th chain from the hook, make 1 dc in each chain across.
- At the end of the row, you will have 33 dc.
Row 2:
- Turn your work, chain 1, and make 1 sc in each dc of the previous row.
Row 3:
- Turn your work, chain 3 (counts as the first dc).
- Make 3 dc in the next 3 stitches.
- In the 5th stitch of Row 1, create a front post double treble crochet with two yarn overs (fptc):
- Insert the hook around the post of the base stitch from the front, pull up a loop (you’ll have 4 loops on the hook).
- Yarn over, insert the hook around the same base stitch again, and pull up another loop (you’ll now have 6 loops on the hook).
- Work the loops as follows:
Yarn over and pull through the first 4 loops.
Yarn over and pull through the next 2 loops.
Yarn over and pull through the last 2 loops.
- Make 3 dc, and in the 4th stitch, repeat the fptc.
- Continue this sequence until the end of the row, finishing with 4 dc.
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until the piece measures 117 cm (46 inches) in length.
Assembly:
- Fold the piece as shown in Diagram 1 (folding in half to create the capelet opening).
- Using a tapestry needle, seam the sides together on the right side of the fabric with simple stitching.
Finishing:
Decorative loops (4.5mm hook):
Row 1:
- Chain 8, skip a small space (approximately 4.5 cm / 1.75 inches), and secure with 1 sc. Continue this sequence around the capelet opening.
Row 2:
- Make 4 sc, chain 3, then 4 more sc. Repeat until the end.
Fringes:
e neckline.
Create 2 pompoms (3.5cm each) and attach one to each end of the cord.
