Stitches used:
- Extended double crochet (edc)
Gauge: A 10 cm x 10 cm square following the pattern with a 4 mm hook = 14 sts x 6 rows.
Size: Small (36) For other sizes, adjust the number of foundation chains and rows as needed.
Front and Back Panels:
The front and back panels are worked separately and are identical.
- Start with a foundation chain of 69 ch + 3 ch to turn.
- Work into the 4th ch from the hook, making edc stitches across the row.
- Continue in edc until you complete 24 rows to form one panel.
Seaming Shoulders and Sides:
- Place both panels together with the wrong sides facing out.
- Measure and mark the following with stitch markers:
- Armholes: 18 cm on each side.
- Neckline: 26 cm centered, leaving 13 cm on each side for the shoulders.
- Seam the sides of the sweater with a tapestry needle using the whip stitch or mattress stitch.
Sleeves:
The sleeves are worked in the round directly onto the armholes.
- With the right side facing, attach the yarn at the underarm and ch 3.
- Work dc evenly around the armhole, totaling 64 dc. (the number of stitches must be a multiple of 4)
- Complete one more round of dc.
Puff Stitch Pattern:
- Ch 3, and in the base of these chains, make a puff st.
- Ch 2, then make another puff st in the same stitch.
- Ch 1, skip 3 sts, and in the 4th st, repeat the pattern: (*1 puff st, ch 2, 1 puff st, ch 1*)
- Continue repeating from * to * around.
- Work this pattern for 29 rounds.
Sleeve Shaping:
- Decrease rounds as follows:
- 1st decrease round: 1 decrease, 1 dc around.
- 2nd decrease round: 2 decreases, 1 dc around.
- 3rd decrease round: 1 decrease, 2 dc around.
- Repeat the same process for the second sleeve.
Neckline and Hem Finishing:
- Work 1 round of sc around the neckline.
- Work 1 round of sc around the bottom hem of the sweater.
Fasten off, weave in all ends, and block the sweater if desired.
