Gauge: A 3.94″ (10 cm) square in pattern st (A - diag 1) using a 2.5 mm hook = 20 sts x 11 rows.

Instructions:

Transfer the templates to the tracing paper to use as a reference when making the piece. Note the arrows in the measurement diagram indicating the direction of the work. Work diag 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, and 7 back and forth. Work diag 3 in the rnd.

Back

Use 2.5 mm hook and Anne yarn in color #5398 (Moss).

Start from the bottom of the piece. Ch 94 and work pattern st (A) along the ch following diag 1 and the rep sts from rows 1 to 35.

In the next row, continue with pattern st (B) following diag 2 and the rep sts from rows 36 to 55. Fasten off and set the piece aside.

Squares

Use 2.5 mm hook and Anne yarn in color #5398 (Moss).

Start the motif with a magic ring.

Row 1: Ch 5, *1 dc, ch 2*, rep from * to * 6 more times, 1 sl st to close the rnd.

In the rnds 2 and 3, continue following diag 1.

Rep the square 6 more times and join them with sl st. Refer to the measurement diagram.

Front

Use 2.5 mm hook and Anne yarn in color #5398 (Moss).

To form the front of the piece, begin by assembling the strip of 7 squares as shown in the measurement diagram.

Work along the upper edge of the square strip in pattern st (C) following diag 4 from rows 59 to 72.

Work along the lower edge of the square strip in pattern st (D) following diag 5 from rows 73 to 111. Finish with the hem, working 1 row of 106 dc.

Textured Edging

Use 2.5 mm hook and Anne yarn in color #5398 (Moss).

Work the textured edging along the edges of the squares following diag 6 and the rep st. Attach the sc to the square strip, keeping the popcorn sts raised over the strip. Also work this textured edging along row 66 (diag 4).

Sleeve

Use 2.5 mm hook and Anne yarn in color #5398 (Moss).

Ch 50 to start the cuff and work pattern st (E) along the ch following diag 7 from rows 1 to 53. Fasten off, make the other sleeve in the same way, and set them aside.

Assembly and finishing

Use the tapestry needle and Anne yarn in color #5398 (Moss). Close the sides of the body (13.8″ / 35 cm) leaving an opening for the armholes (7.48″ / 19 cm). Join the shoulders (4.33″ / 11 cm). Close the sleeves (22.8″ / 58 cm) and sew them along the armholes.

Use 2.5 mm hook again and Anne yarn in color #5398 (Moss). Work 94 sc along the neckline and 1 sl st to close the rnd; fasten off.

Lining suggestion

Tank top, separate garment.
