Gauge:

A 4-inch (10 cm) square in sc. with a 3.0 mm hook = 24 sts. x 13 rows.

Instructions:

Transfer the patterns onto tracing paper to use as a reference when making the piece. Pay attention to the arrows in the measurement diagram, which indicate the direction of the work.

1st step – Right side: Use a 3.0 mm crochet hook and Seaside yarn in Deep Sea color, start at the bottom, make a cord of 91 ch., work over this cord in the fantasy stitch (A) following diag. 1 and the repeat sts.; At 25.6” (65 cm) start the armholes, fasten off the 21 center sts. (3.15” / 8 cm). Work each side separately, dec. on every row 2 sts. (2x) and 1 st. (13x), finish each side with 18 sts. (2.75” / 7 cm). Left side: Same as the right side.

Back: Using a 3.0 mm crochet hook and Seaside yarn in the color Deep Sea, start at the bottom and make a cord of 42 ch.; On this chain, work in the fantasy st. pattern (B – 14 motifs) following diag. 2 and the repeat sts.; At a length of 48 cm (approx. 18.9“), work each side separately (7 motifs for each side). At a length of 78 cm (approx. 30.7”), fasten off the yarn and set the piece aside.

Front: Using a 3.0 mm crochet hook and Seaside yarn in the color Deep Sea, start at the bottom and make a cord of 42 ch.; On this chain, work in the fantasy st. pattern (B – 14 motifs) following diag. 2 and the repeat sts.; At a length of 75 cm (approx. 29.5“), begin the neckline. Fasten off the central motif and work each side separately, dec. 1 motif on the neckline side every row, 2x, finishing each side with 4 motifs (5 cm or approx. 2”). Fasten off the yarn and set the piece aside.

Sleeve: Using a 3.0 mm crochet hook and Seaside yarn in the color Deep Sea, start at the bottom and make a cord of 58 ch.; On this chain, work in the fantasy st. pattern (C) following diag. 3 and the repeat sts. At a length of 6 cm (approx. 2.4”), begin shaping the armholes by dec. 1 st. every row, 4 times. At a length of 19 cm (approx. 7.5”), finish the sleeve, fasten off the yarn, and set the piece aside. Make the second sleeve in the same way. Step 2 – Assembly: This piece will be shaped at the waist using a sewing machine at 54 cm (approx. 21.3”) from the bottom of the piece, for 7 cm (approx. 2.8”). Use a contrasting thread to baste the right sides (A and B) and left sides (C and D) of the back and front parts, following the measurement diagram to guide the sewing. On the sewing machine, sew the basted pieces together. Close the bottom part of the sleeves (6 cm or approx. 2.4”) and sew them around the armholes (13 cm or approx. 5.1 inches). Finishing Edges: Using a 3.0 mm crochet hook and Seaside yarn in the color Deep Sea, work one row of sc. around the neckline, the edges of each sleeve, and the hem. Lining: Suggested lining: a separate piece modeled on the dress body without the sleeves. Use Maxxi Retrós thread in the color Ball Blue and sewing needle no. 2. Attach the lining with basting stitches along the neckline, armhole edges, and back neckline. Finish the piece by machine sewing a 30 cm (approx. 11.8”) zipper into the slit at the back.
