Stitches used: 

Ribbing 2/2: 2 purls, * 2 knits, 2 purls *. Stockinette stitch: knit on the right side, purl on the wrong side. Pattern stitch: follow the chart.

Gauge: A 10 cm (4 inches) square in pattern stitch following the chart with a 4.0 mm needles = 23 sts. x 23 rows.

Instructions

Front – Cast on 92 sts. with a 4.0 mm needles and work in 2/2 ribbing. After 4 cm (1.6 inches) from the beginning, switch to pattern stitch following the chart. Increase 1 st. in the 1st row, work the mirrored chart from the central st. After 31 cm (12.2 inches) from the beginning, switch back to 2/2 ribbing and decrease 1 st. in the 1st row. After 36 cm (14.2 inches) from the beginning, bind off. Back – Right Side: Cast on 50 sts. with a 4.0 mm needles and work in 2/2 ribbing. After 4 cm (1.6 inches) from the beginning, switch to pattern stitch following the chart for 46 sts., and work 2 knits and 2 purls in the last 4 sts. After 31 cm (12.2 inches) from the beginning, work all sts. in 2/2 ribbing. After 36 cm (14.2 inches) from the beginning, bind off. At the same time, create 5 buttonholes (2 sts. together, 1 yarn over), the first buttonhole should be 2 cm (0.8 inches) from the start and 3 sts. from the left edge, and the others should be spaced 8 cm (3.1 inches) apart. Back – Left Side: Work the same as the right side, but in reverse and without the buttonholes. Straps – Cast on 14 sts. with a 4.0 mm needles and knit in stockinette stitch. After 30 cm (11.8 inches) from the beginning, bind off. Make 2 straps.

Finishing – Sew the sides. Along the longer edges of each strap, make a seam to create a double strap. Sew the straps to the upper front/back of the cropped top, 24 sts. from each side seam. Sew the buttons onto the left side of the back, 3 sts. from the edge, in line with the buttonholes on the right side of the back.
